Soaked Socks Blues

September 27, 2008

It’s raining so hard in the Mid-Atlantic seaboard and I was caught right in when I went to the Rec Center for work. My socks are wet and there’s nothing I can do. I want to sneak them into the dryer for like 20 min, see if that would help. A band is rehearsing at the gym floor right now and they are just doing random drum beats. I think they are Boys Like Girls. I am not sure.

I ate two big cookies which makes me awake (dryer laundry does too) but I don’t feel like studying so I am writing again. Today the Tampa Bay Devil Rays clinched their first ever playoff berth. I feel great about it, I knew this year’s team was special. To show my team spirit, I will make a lame attempt at a playoff beard. And though growing a beard is impossible, I will just not shave until the Rays get eliminated from the playoffs. Now that’s team spirit.

On another note, increased importance on GPA means all work next few days. I hope my advisor’s little pep talk (scheduled by me) will slap some sense into me, so I could get back on track. Yeah I have to get back on track, taking down the first Organic Chemistry exam is the first step.

Underwater Boot

September 21, 2008

Imagine you go fishing one day and you hook out a wet, decaying albeit durable boot. It resembles a figment of the past, something frozen in time, abandoned, jettisoned forever. Today I decided to check out my old Xanga blog, after I saw it being the browser’s history at work. I remember my account name of Embalmed and the password, of course. This was my first attempt ever at blogging, well before Blogspot, Myspace, Facebook, and WordPress. Over the span of roughly 700 days (12/11/03 – 11/21/05), I wrote 20 posts. And all of these posts were about my grades in high school and or how much work I had to do and or whats going on in school. Same old story on rewind and getting fast forwarded. Though I still retain some of those elements I’m glad that the blog is not a one-trick pony anymore.

Quantum Leap

September 18, 2008

Quickly before I go to work, I’ll talk about this. I was trying to find ways to make this blog better and stumbled upon Technorati, a website that tracks all the blogs. If found my page and at first the overall popularity was around 4.6 million. After being number 4.6 million for a few days, yesterday I reorganized by blog because I saw another one of a popular newsanchor back home, and he organized his blogs into categories. Who would have known, in a day, my blog jumped to about 3.3 millionth most popular. What a difference it makes.

Random Conversation

September 15, 2008

The other day (yesterday), I was on my university network DC++ talking with some people about random things involving the program and debated on random things (whether sharing 1TB of porn was possible/has it ever been done). But eventually the guy I was talking to remarked about how the album “Enema of the State” would be 10 years old or something like that. This segwayed into how time has just gone by like that. I later remarked about how the whole Hannah Montana scene really showed that I am old now. My remark was misinterpreted I assume and later the conversation drifted into whether Hannah Montana is hot, etc.

But yeah, time has definetly passed by and yes we are all older/already old. The things we remember from our past were the cornerstones of adolescence and the things “that are in now”, aren’t really sinking in. Similar and better examples include the Teen Choice Awards and Pokemon. Back then I use to watch the Teen Choice Awards and now I don’t even know when it airs. And back then I use to know my generation’s Pokemon. Now there are so many that it has lost all meaning. What I would do to go back in time and reminesce in nostalgia.

Good News

September 12, 2008

Really confused/drunk right now, but am really pleased that David Price got called up for the Tampa Bay Rays. He will be relaly good for the team and I am rooting for him all the way. Also six games got rained out today in the MLB. Big news there.

Bernard Pollard

September 8, 2008

Since the NFL has so many players, it is difficult to keep track of all of them. Chiefs’ safety (strong/free ?) Bernard Pollard is one of those guys that I was unaware of. According to Wikipedia, Pollard is nicknamed “The Bonecrusher.” Well, he certaintly did that yesterday to Tom Brady. Thank you Bernard Pollard, for ending the Patriots’ season and giving the Jets some hope. Bill Belichick has experienced karma.
